Description

Place a barbell across your upper back (not your neck), feet shoulder-width apart or slightly wider. Bend your knees and lower your body as if sitting back into a chair until your thighs are at least parallel to the floor, then drive back up to standing. The squat is the king of all exercises—it builds more overall muscle mass than any other single movement. Arnold trained squats heavy and deep, going below parallel for full thigh development. He emphasizes that there is no substitute for heavy squats in building massive, powerful legs. Keep your back straight, chest up, and drive through your heels.
