Dumbbell Lateral Raises

Description
Standing, hold a dumbbell in each hand at your sides. Keeping your arms slightly bent, raise the dumbbells out to the sides until they reach shoulder level, then lower them back down under control. This exercise isolates the medial (side) head of the deltoid, which is responsible for shoulder width. Arnold emphasizes that the movement should be controlled—don't swing the weights up. At the top of the movement, turn your wrists slightly so that the rear of the dumbbell is higher than the front, as if pouring water from a pitcher.
